Costae tetras (Moenkhausia costae) are slim silver schoolers with a black line from the gill to the tail. They stay around 4–5 cm. Keep eight or more — a pair looks washed out and hides. Planted tank, 23–28°C, open midwater. Peaceful with other small tetras. This is not a black neon; black neons carry a brighter neon stripe above the black band. Feed flake and small frozen foods.
